Stimulating our Five Senses with Havdallah

Stimulating our Five Senses with Havdallah

On Friday 4 October, Senior Kindergarten families joined in the Hall to celebrate Shabbat and a Havdallah themed Parent and Child Education (PACE) session. The session was led by Stephanie, Coordinator of the Centre of Living Judaism (CLJ), with music by Shannyn on the guitar.

Families and their children participated in three activities – painting a glass kiddush cup, making a lavender scent bag and rolling and twisting beeswax sheets into Havdallah candles.

Thank you to Stephanie and Shannyn for organising and leading this enjoyable afternoon session. Thank you also to the Senior Kindergarten Teachers for assisting with the activities. We hope that everyone enjoyed their afternoon with us and get to use their PACE goodies to stimulate their five senses at home. A lovely link between Kindergarten and home.

VCE Performing Arts - Monologue evening

VCE Performing Arts - Monologue evening

On the evening of Tuesday 1 October, the Year 12 Theatre Studies class put on a triumphant performance of the annual Year 12 Monologues for the benefit of parents and friends.

This evening is a valuable opportunity for Theatre students to show off their work to an audience in preparation for their performance in front of a judging panel in their final Theatre Performance Exam (scheduled this year for 18 October).

This year, the monologues chosen came from such diverse plays as Tamberlaine by Christopher Marlowe (a contemporary of Shakespeare) and Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron, a 21st-century Australian play. The Year 12 students have put a great deal of effort into their Monologues. In the final exam, they will have to give a convincing and memorable portrayal of their character with a great deal of emotion, all within the time frame of seven minutes.
